New year time

So yes it is New Year’s Eve again. I can’t say I won’t be happy 2014 is over. It’s been a strange year full of ups and downs and I will be glad to start a fresh.

The whole house has been unwell recently so a fresh start is definitely what we need.

2014 was a good year in some ways it’s not all bad. I’m so lucky to connect with someone again that I has missed for over two years. We also moved into our lovely home. We got our little dog Rolo too. I also decided to home educate my two sons.

The next year is going to be about doing what I love and progressing with my hand dyed yarn business and social media and virtual assistant business.

I’m very proud of my eldest son and his YouTube career too.

I hope you all have a great new year and I’m not going to put resolutions on here as I am just happy for a fresh new start.

Big Changes!

Over the last week or so I have made some big changes and big decisions.  These include a lot of thought about my fears and my future.

Some big changes are always a little difficult I think especially if you have to make the final decision yourself.  As many of you probably know I own Peggy’s Collection which is a UK based knitwear company and I design knitting patterns too.  I also own Peggy’s Yarns which I hand dyed yarns and sold various knitting accessories.

I am afraid one of my big decisions was to close Peggy’s Yarns.   The main reason for this is because I want to concentrate on my design work and it just simply was not making enough money to continue.

I would like to thank all my supporters through Peggy’s Yarns though and I have made some great friends through it.  I will still very much be on the knitting scene just not with my own yarns.  In a way it makes me quite excited to try other people’s yarns and use them in my designs.

I have also decided to start a counselling course.  A few years ago while I was doing my law degree I studied psychology.  I have a diploma in this and I loved the work very much.  So I have plunged into the world of assignments and studying once again.

I believe this will be a rewarding career for me as it will help others as well as enriching my life too.

I will be carrying on with this blog featuring motivational posts, beauty, knitting and my life in general.  So I hope you will all continue to follow my blog and enjoy it.

Sorry if I have rambled a little on this blog post but I had lots to tell you all.

Be grateful

image

I think this is something we all need to do in life. Being grateful for the things we have is a simple thing yet we do sometimes take them for granted.

Family and friends are so important and something we should always feel grateful for. I moved back to norfolk around 6 years ago and my family helped me so much. For this and so many other things they have done I will always be grateful.

image

The above quote is so true. We are always looking to better ourselves and get the latest gadget or have more than we do. But if we were grateful for the things we already have including people and love I’m sure we would all see how rich we truly are.

I have been writing down each day the things I am grateful for. Sounds a little crazy! But it really does work.  When you are grateful for the things you have and the moments you are grateful for it makes you realise what a great life you have. It also opens up lots more opportunities to you.

image

If you want any changes in your life you need to do as the above quote says. If you continue doing the same things then you will get the same results.

I could go into so much detail with this blog post but don’t want to make it too long. If you like these kind of posts please comment and I will write some more 🙂

Never forgotten

This has been an emotional day for me today. So far my blog posts aren’t too personal but I had to write something today about an amazing lady.

I will not mention her name but she was born in 1919 and saw so many eras. She came into our family quite some year’s ago and as she had no family of her own we adopted her like a Nan. She was always proud to be part of a family and used to tell us all the time.

Just before Christmas this amazing lady died but she had such an impact on all of our lives. She influenced myself, my sister, the children of the family and of course our mum too. This was only a few people as she had many friends and uncles and aunts of mine too that grew close to her.

I remember making her this pale blue pleated shawl for her birthday one year. Her favourite colour.

image

She was a very educated lady and loved her garden and her cats that she owned over time. We will miss her dearly. I know she would not want us to be sad today, the day of her funeral.

So I suppose my message for today and the reason for this blog post is to appreciate all you have and the people around you.

Happy New year ideas

I have so many ideas for the new year it’s all very exciting.

image

I saw an idea the other day of putting things you wish to achieve into a glass jam jar and then at the end of the year see how many became possible. What a great idea! Something I will be doing

image

We don’t usually do much for New year’s eve but I thought this was a great idea to keep the children happy and make them feel a little more special on New year’s eve.

image

I hope you all have a great new year and let me know if you are going to try any of these ideas.

Knitted nails?

I bought these a while ago as they look just like fairisle knitting. I have never used nail wraps before and now I know why. You have to put on clear nail varnish first then cut out the nail wraps soak them in water and cut them to your shape of nails. I must admit I am not a nail technician so I have never used these before but I really wasn’t impressed.

I was rather excited about having knitted nails! But they really just looked a mess. I think if I was going for this look it would be better on false nails to use for a special occasion. Maybe different brands are better I don’t know.

But my first experience with nail wraps has not been a success. Let me know if you use them and if so how you find them.

Friday the 13th

Yes today is Friday the 13th. A date which some people hate if they are superstitious.

image

I on the other hand am not superstitious and I think if anything is going to happen it won’t be because of the date of that particular day. I know others are though and won’t even venture out on such a day. Just the number 13 is considered unlucky. Usually you don’t get a number 13 house because they miss the number out. Also some hospitals won’t have a ward 13 because of this reason too.

Are you superstitious? Let me know in the comments below
